Interview with Ropo Demure

What is the one beauty product you can’t live without?

Lip gloss! It gives you colour, hydration and that little bit of glam you need before you go out. It’s basis but it is a trend that in my opinion is never going away.

Who is your beauty muse?

Growing up in Nigeria and then later on in London, I developed a love of beauty thanks to my Nigerian culture. In Nigerian, women love to wear a full face of makeup and fabulous outfits. Women in Nigeria use makeup as a tool of self expression. They are my ultimate beauty inspirations.

Do you think social media has helped change society’s beauty standards?

Definitely! There is a place for everyone because on social media you can create your own space. It’s an amazing platform for girls because there is such variety- black girl, thin girls, big girls, Asian girls, Indian girls and so on. Viewers are introduced to new types of people who they never would of considered beautiful before.

What does inclusive beauty mean to you?

Inclusivity to me means all ages, all sexes and all races. Absolutely no one should be left behind.

What is your process for creating content?

For each video, I create a mood board drawing from inspiration on social media and celebrities. I then write down the concept in detail and execute it. I try to film at least one to two videos per week to ensure I’m giving something new to my followers on a regular basis.

If you weren't doing makeup, what would you be doing and why?

If I wasn’t a beauty blogger, I would be a photographer. As a child I always loved taking pictures of people and events. As a photographer, I loved capturing candid moments. I really thought I would be a photographer doing weddings and other specials occasions - but I ended up working on the other end of the camera!
