Interview with Bemi Akinde

Describe your makeup style.

Funny enough, unlike my clients, my makeup style is more on the natural side. I use makeup to enhance and defining my features. I love to experiment with makeup but I end up preferring natural and neutral colours that suit my skin tone.

What is one thing your followers don’t know about you?

I’m a student at University studying Business Enterprise; graduating Fall 2020. I was motivated to seek a higher educational degree by my mother who became pregnant with me during her University studies and unfortunately had to make the sacrifice and leave to raise me. This fall I will walk across the stage for the both of us.

Who is your makeup muse?

That’s a hard question. At the moment, there are two, Naomi Campbell and, I know it sound cliched, but also Kim Kardashian. I love both of their simple and sophisticated looks that let their natural features shine. Their looks are my day to day go to and are super quick and easy to replicate. Both of them achieve ageless beauty look that keeps them looking fresh-faced.

What inspires you the most?

Entrepreneurship and the independence, both mental and financial, it brings. To me, being in business for yourself is true freedom. Entrepreneurial independence is what motivates me every day.

What is the one beauty product you can’t live without?

Lashes! The longer the better. I love them so much I created my own product line of lashes.

This or That, tell us what you prefer.

Camera or iPhone:/ That’s easy, my iPhone; it’s never far from me. I find using an iPhone to shoot my content is easier to work with. I can more easily get certain angles, edit and upload content. /Beach or City Vacation:/ I love city vacations. You would never see me itching for a beach holiday. I just can’t stay still and sit on a beach. I like to be on the go on holiday with lots to see and do. I’ll sit on a beach when I’m old and gravy. /Matte or Hydrating Foundation:/ I mix both because I feel I get a better finish then using one or the other. /High-street or High-end Makeup:/ It’s both. What leads me to purchase a product is the quality, performance and, whether or not, it’s a trusted brand name. Many people think high end products are better simply due to their higher price. However, for me, it’s all about technique and skill. I can make magic happen whether the product cost £5 or £40.
